Do you enjoy working in schools and helping students to be their best?

I believe that how athletes prepare for competition is the same as how students should prepare for an exam. Hence, I use the term ‘Study Hygiene’ which I define as the habit and practice that is conducive to studying well on a regular basis.

In my presentation (Exceptional Exam Preparation) I will share with students the habits and practices that facilitate studying well now and in the future:

  • Planning and preparation
  • Getting comfortable
  • The importance of sleep
  • How to structure breaks
  • Fitting in exercise
  • Paying attention to nutrition
  • Tackling hydration
  • Tips for snacks

For Year 11 and 12 ATAR Physical Education Students, I also run physiology revision presentations on the ATAR content.

Then, as the school year gets closer to mock and final exams I run a ‘Practice Makes Perfect’ presentation where I facilitate for students a thorough understanding of reading the question, structuring an answer, using examples and working out the marking allocation required from previous WACE exam questions. We cover multiple choice, short answer and extended answer exam questions in the following areas of Physiology:

  • Environmental Conditions – Heat
  • Environmental Conditions – Cold
  • Environmental Conditions – Altitude
  • Nutritional Requirements of Physical Activity
  • Performance Enhancing Drugs
  • Training Programs Designed to Improve Performance
  • Energy Systems and Recovery

Finally, for IGSSA and PSA sporting school students I run a series of education modules on how to develop the scientifically backed habits and practices of elite athletes that are conducive to preparing well for training and competition both now and into the future. The nine modules cover the following topics:

  • Module 1 – Environmental Conditions
  • Module 2 – Nutrition and Hydration
  • Module 3 – Recovery
  • Module 4 – Sleep
  • Module 5 – Travel
  • Module 6 – Understanding Physiology
  • Module 7 – Electronic Devices
  • Module 8 – Considerations of the Male or Female Athlete
  • Module 9 – Ergogenic Aids

So, if you enjoy helping school students be their very best consider giving them the opportunity to attend one of the following Peak Preparation presentations:

  • Exercise Physiology ATAR Revision Presentations
  • ‘Practice Makes Perfect’ - Exercise Physiology Exam Revision
  • ‘Exceptional Exam Preparation’ - Study Hygiene Presentation
  • Sport Science Education Modules for School Sporting Students
